From expertise to mastery [ethics]
Many people think that ethics is mainly a matter of moralising, of raising your hand and saying: this is what you should do, that is what you should avoid; and if you don’t behave you’ll get punished. But that is a superficial, hardly effective approach. When you work with us you will soon see why. Ethics is essentially a matter of inquiry, of trying to find out how we can flourish, on our own and together with others. How do we want to act? Who are our professional teachers? What are our guiding values? Are we able to flourish in a difficult situation? Those are the questions ethics is about.
In organizations ethics plays a role of increasing importance. Many people are willing to assess themselves against explicit standards of professionalism, integrity or social responsibility. That is why they draw up codes of conduct, devote part of the annual report to it or create positions for people to deal with these standards openly. We help you to create this openness and willingness to reflect on the true standards of a good life.
